Nestled in the Mendips, with the world-famous Cheddar Gorge just a few minutes’ walks away, this large, characterful Victorian house and accompanying annexe make the perfect short break destination for families, individuals and groups.
The property sits in the village below the dramatic gorge that has the highest limestone cliffs in England.
This Hostel makes a great base for hiking, cheese and caving. If high underground adventures aren’t your thing, you can take it easier with some wonderful local walks and easier cave walks followed by cheese tasting or travel to the nearby cities of Bath and Bristol.
Facilities
YHA Cheddar has 58 beds in a selection of dorm rooms and private rooms, some of which are en-suite. The Youth Hostel is housed in a large Victorian house and annexe, with grounds. There is a lounge with comfortable seating and a compact dining room.
There is a light dining room, with views to the garden, with ample seating as well as a lounge. Wif-Fi is available at this property which is free of charge for guests to use.
Given its great locations its ideal for hiking directly from the hostel and only a short drive where we can access some great caves for caving suitable for a range of abilities.
There are five showers and five toilets – please bring your own towels.
