With spectacular views across Lyme Bay and Portland Harbour, YHA Portland sits at the north of the ‘island’ and is reached from the mainland via a causeway from Dorset’s famous Chesil Beach.
It’s ideally located for views of the breath-taking Chesil Beach and the picturesque Lyme Bay and makes a perfect base for exploring the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.
The Isle of Portland is the gateway to an array of activities like climbing, sailing, diving, windsurfing and sea-kayaking. The hostel is spectacularly situated with great views and ideal for leisurely hiking this extraordinary isle.
Local attraction attractions include Henry VIII’s coastal fortress, the sculptures in Tout Quarry, and Portland Museum. Photographers will be delighted by the sights and night skies.
Facilities
YHA Portland has 32 beds in both dorm rooms and private rooms. The hostel has a slightly sloping garden, so please be careful if you’re exploring. There’s also the option to camp within the grounds
The dining room plus additional dining tables in the lounge provide ample dining space. The lounge also has settees, armchairs and a TV.
There are three showers on the first-floor landing and toilets. There is also a shower and separate toilet by the front door and a washroom with shower by the self-catering kitchen. The en-suite rooms have a bath with a shower over the bath.
